OSB - oriented strand boards

Oriented strand board, a material obtained by pressing flat wood chips of coniferous non-commercial wood using a binder component (synthetic resin).

OSB is “improved wood”: stronger and more elastic due to the preservation of all the useful properties of solid wood in flat chips. The technology of pressing and the composition of the binder exclude the possibility of delamination of the plate. OSB does not have the common wood and plywood defects such as knots, internal voids and delamination.
Grade
Low grade products with low density. Designed primarily for rough repair and construction work. Demanded in the manufacture of furniture (for the manufacture of hidden elements). Reduced moisture resistance, these plates are inferior in strength to products of higher classes. Bending strength - 20 MPa. The degree of swelling is 25%.
Denser than OSB-1, swell less when exposed to moisture. Mainly used for interior finishing work. Bending strength - 22 MPa. The degree of swelling is 20%.
The most popular class of oriented strand boards. Moderate moisture resistance. Bending strength - 22 MPa. It is allowed to use for outdoor work with the condition of additional processing (paints and varnishes, impregnation with hydrophobic compounds). The degree of swelling is 15%.
Plates of the highest grade with increased moisture resistance. Bending strength - 30 MPa. The degree of swelling is 12%.
The main advantages of OSB:
  • This is a strong and durable material that will last a long time, if the technology for installation and handling of the material is met
  • Low material cost, price/quality ratio
  • Attractive material appearance that looks like wood
  • OSB boards are easy to process and relatively light in weight, making installation easy, especially at heights
  • High rates of fracture and deformation, moisture resistance (OSB 3 and OSB 4), allow the use of plates in a humid environment and on load-bearing structures

Plywood

Plywood is a composite material made from thin layers of wood veneer that are glued to adjacent layers with their wood fibers rotated 90° towards each other.

Because of the interlocking effect of the veneer layers, plywood has better (less) swelling and shrinking properties compared to solid wood panels. Plywood is used where high loads and thin cross-sections are required.
Plywood is lightweight, easily combined with other materials, easy to process, resistant to temperature changes, and has an aesthetic appearance.
Grade
B (1) - the first grade of plywood with a smooth uniform texture.
BB (2) - knots are present, but in a minimum amount, a slight presence of inserts is allowed.
SR (3) - the grade is more often used for rough finishes, as it contains an unspecified number of large knots and inserts for their "repair".
С (4) – presence of defects on the front layers is allowed. This type of plywood is often used in rough finishes and interiors that require elements with a rough finish.

Plywood PC

Plywood PC - what is its peculiarity? In the production of this multilayer material, urea-formaldehyde resins are used (P - plywood, C - carbamide), which makes it environmentally friendly for humans. This plywood is made from birch veneer and has an emission class of E-1.
Фанера ФК
The main advantages of PC plywood:
  • Flexibility, smooth surface on both sides, and no risk of through cracks. PC plywood veneer sheets are so securely glued that possible damage can be dangerous for only one layer
  • Ease of processing
  • Bonding strength (both sheets to each other and to any other surface)
  • Ease of transportation regardless of distance
  • Low price

The use of this type of material implies several directions:

  • For cladding surfaces, ceilings and walls - in homes and offices
  • Laying under parquet/laminate as a base for flooring
  • Furniture manufacturing
  • Production of exhibition and advertising stands, souvenirs

Plywood PRP

One of the most popular multilayer materials used in industry and construction is PRP plywood. PRP grade plywood is produced by gluing wood veneer with phenol-formaldehyde resin glue (PRP). Plywood production takes place under high temperatures and pressure. During this process, the resins not only perfectly impregnate the surface of the source material, but also penetrate deep into the wood veneer, which ensures reliable adhesion of all layers. This type meets international standards, is characterized by increased strength, wear resistance and heat resistance. A distinctive positive characteristic of this material is increased moisture resistance. This allows the use of PRP plywood in various aggressive environmental conditions. This plywood is made from birch veneer and has an emission class of E-1.
The main advantages of FSF plywood:
  • Resistance to mechanical damage and temperature changes
  • Compatibility with other materials, hence ease of installation
  • Relatively small weight, and due to this - ease of transportation
  • Wear resistance, immunity to a fungus and other microorganisms

The use of this type of material implies several directions:

  • For the manufacture of furniture, doors and window units
  • For the production of packaging
  • Construction of children's and sports grounds, etc.

Boards

Dry edged board is a high-quality lumber that is made from coniferous wood (pine, spruce) and corresponds to grade 1-2 (construction / commercial). The size of the board is 100x25x6000mm, which allows it to be used for a wide range of construction and finishing works.
Edged board has high strength and resistance to various types of loads and impacts. It also has excellent thermal insulation properties and can be used to frame walls, ceilings, partitions and other structural elements.
Drying wood to 14-16% avoids deformation and shrinkage of the board during operation, and also increases its durability and reliability. In addition, the dry board has a smoother surface and more accurate dimensions, which makes it easier to handle and install.
